Pannonhalma Benedictine Abbey built on a hilltop St. Marton (Martin), a height of 282 m. The name of the hill is associated with tradition, it is here that St. Martin of Tours was born. Abbey, located in the small town of Pannonhalma in the west of Hungary, was founded by Benedictine monks 1000 years ago - in 996 year. It is believed that the Holy Marton was born at the foot of this hill, named in honor of his Mount St. Marton. Abbey is the second largest worldwide after the abbey at Monte Cassino.
